Palm Desert: Full of Famous Attractions You Won’t Want to Miss

Palm Springs Oasis RV Resort straddles the line between California’s famous Palm Springs and Palm Desert regions. It’s the perfect place to stay to soak up the incomparable experiences available in both snowbird hot spots. From golfing in the Coachella Valley to riding the world-renowned Tramway, to visiting the Western movie set Pioneertown, you won’t be bored for a moment in Palm Desert. Here’s our guide to the famous attractions you just can’t miss.

Pioneertown

Hollywood came to Pioneertown with the intention of building an Old West set that would double as a fabulous town to visit, and they succeeded. Cowboys and horse-drawn carriages amble down Main Street and stop at the saloon, bank, or saddlery. Inside you’ll find real entertainment, food, shopping and other Western-themed experiences. Among the most unusual offerings is a fabulous vintage bowling alley, full of western memorabilia.

Joshua Tree National Park

Joshua Tree National Park sits between two great areas– the Mojave Desert and the Colorado Desert. So, this park is the perfect place to get your fill of gorgeous desert views and clear, starry nights. Lizards, golden eagles, and the roadrunner can all be spotted at the park.

Of course, you don’t have to hike to immerse yourself in nature. Consider going on a Hummer Adventure through the park– it is rated the number one off-road tour on all of TripAdvisor. Next, visit the nearby and equally famous Palm Springs Aerial Tram Way for a bird’s eye view of the steep mountains.

You can get a closer look at this area’s splendid nature in town, at the Living Desert Zoo & Gardens. Ride a camel, feed a giraffe, and tour on a carousel that gets you close to all kinds of endangered species.

Town Treasures

Want to head into town for some shopping or art? Palm Desert will wow you with both. The El Paseo Shopping District has every store you’re craving and if you love the excitement of a street fair make sure you check out the Street Fair at College of the Desert and its art, gift, and furniture vendors. Fresh fruit is available too!

Also in town is the CODA Gallery, which was just named California’s best art gallery by the American Art Awards. For a more educational art experience, you can’t beat the Palm Springs Art Museum, home to a beautiful collection of ancient Mesoamerican art, and art of the West, including gorgeous desert landscapes.

Golf in the Coachella Valley

Palm Springs and Palm Desert offer some of the best golfing in the Coachella Valley, including the former Bob Hope, Classic Club and the Marriot’s Shadow Ridge, which has acclaimed Australian-inspired design.

For a challenging course at a reasonable price try Cathedral Canyon, which is nearby Palm Springs Oasis RV Resort. Or, book a tee time at the Club at Morningside for gorgeous views and perfectly manicured greens.

So many of these experiences are truly unique, top-rated attractions. From your home base at Palm Springs Oasis RV Resort, you can experience all of this and the many other gems Palm Springs and Palm Desert offers.
